Saint Laurent, Rive Gauche, Black Dress 1970s
A stunning black, high quality velvet, tunic dress by Yves Saint Laurent's, ready to wear line, Rive Gauche. Created in 76 or 77' when Saint Laurent created lines inspired by the Chinese fashion. Adorned with 5 covered buttons and a scoop neck line. This garment was sourced from Nashville, where Nancy Lee Andrews, former fiancee of Ringo Starr resides. Ringo purchased this vintage tunic dress for her. Luckily we were able to score this gem!
Saint Laurent: In 1966, Yves Saint Laurent opened a ready-to-wear boutique in Paris called “Saint Laurent Rive Gauche.” This marked the first time a couturier successfully launched a ready-to-wear line in France. Rive Gauche was an immediate success, with some customers waiting up to three hours simply to purchase items. Within a matter of weeks, it was clear Rive Gauche was the new sanctum of Paris youth culture of the sixties and seventies.
